reading the receipts on how bethesda resorted to fucking extortion in a pathetic attempt to force Leona (a trans woman) to resign without pursuing a discrimination lawsuit by holding her fucking surgeries hostage & holy fuck

her experience at bethesda was a harrowing but depressingly familliar one filled with a sudden loss of respect by her superiors, public outing by her manager, falsified reports on her yearly review to convince corporate that she was a liability...

i struggle to find the words to descrive how i felt going through it all.

they were HOLDING HER SURGERIES HOSTAGE TO COERCE HER TO RESIGN

fuck this fucking industry. you cannot fix this. it is beyond saving

Various Headcanons I have about Deafness/sign language in Skyrim because gdi I want representation:

  • Merfolk have the largest Deaf populations of the races, with Altmer having the most out of all of them, due to a quirk with the way the inner ear is shaped and processes sound.
  • Altmer sign language is jealously guarded from outsiders, and is also considered a purely liturgical language, due to most Deaf (and deaf/blind) spending some time serving in the various temples.
  • Nordic sign doesn’t have very many words for color, because the woman who created their sign language was colorblind.
  • Orsimer sign language is heavily “percussive”, using the vibration of certain beats to indicate emotion and grammar. Orc sign is also used by the general population in the forges and mines, simply because trying to shout over people banging on metal is hard.
  • Argonian sign is hard for non-Argonians to learn, as it has no verb tenses, and also doesn’t use much facial grammar due to the difficulty Argonians have with facial expression.
  • Bosmer sign uses a lot of sharp, tight movements held close to the chest.
  • Khajiit sign is somewhat circular in movement, and uses the tail, claws, and ears to convey grammar/emotion.
  • Dunmer sign language has over seventy dialects. Three of these are “dead” but still a source of study for various religious scholars.
  • Khajiit sign also includes a specific honorific for “I respect all of you, except for That Guy”.
  • Redguard sign language uses a lot of dance-like movement and is often incorporated into interpretive dances during ceremonies.
  • Imperial sign language is extremely blunt, uses very little facial grammar, and is often used as a sort of “universal” sign between people who don’t know each other’s sign language.
  • Breton sign includes movement of the feet/legs, and also has very intense facial grammar.
  • Reachfolk sign borrows a lot of the Redguards’ dance-movement, and incorporates the orc’s percussion, but also has a unique magical element: emotion is conveyed with colored sparks circling the signer’s wrists.
  • Reachfolk sign also has a secondary dialect, which is more of a “battle language”: signs are all done close to the face/around the head, with no dance-movement or colored sparks. This particular dialect is most often used for communication between hunters or warriors, but has been adopted by Deaf reachfolk with movement disorders as well.

People who I think it’d be neat if they were Deaf/deaf/hoh:

  • Brand-Shei is hard of hearing and uses the Argonian sign language, but he hides it from others because he feels like people wouldn’t buy from him considering he’s already Othered due to his childhood in Black Marsh.
  • Urag gro-Shub prefers sign language be used in his library, both to keep the noise down and because his hearing is starting to deteriorate in his old age. He has a special fondness for those that take the time to learn Orsimer sign.
  • Jarl Elisif is partially deaf in her right ear due to an illness she contracted as a child.
  • Aela is deaf but was never taught to use any formal sign language when she was younger. She is currently learning the Nordic and Imperial sign and has also worked on creating a type of “morse code” with Skjor.
  • Weylin had very little residual hearing.
  • Keerava is a child of Deaf adults.
  • Ulfric is hard of hearing but hides this religiously out of fear that his armies would not follow a “weak” king. (Galmar thinks this is stupid, but has agreed not to argue with Ulfric about it.)
  • Gulum-Ei can’t hear out of his left side at all and has some balance issues because of this.
  • Karliah is also a child of Deaf adults, which is why her speaking voice is so quiet: she’s not used to using it. Gallus had acute tinnitus and appreciated Karliah’s fluid translating whenever the ringing was particularly bad.
yess im definitely adopting some of these these are all so good skyrim elder scrolls disability

i hate the “on average a user only sees 25 posts per session so they have to be good and varied” bullshit on that staff post. if i open tumblr and the 25 posts i see are nothing but a single mutual mass reblogging their favourite thing that i couldn’t care less about. well. that’s what i enjoy

snazzy-hats-and-adhd

If my beloved mutual needed to reblog a thing 25 times then by all things sacred I am going to read it once and then scroll past it 24 times as they intended me to!

have you ever used Tumblr live before?

yes, I regularly use Tumblr live

I use it sometimes, but not regularly

Used to, but not anymore

Have never used it

See Results

For the record, accidentally tapping on Tumblr live when it randomly appears every week does not count as using Tumblr live for the sake of this poll. This is only referring to purposeful use of the feature.

I'd appreciate it if people could share this for a larger sample size!

Another commission, this time from @liches-covered-in-lich featuring his Morokei! This commission took a couple weeks working on and off, but the result, I believe, was worth the wait!

image

This was a joy to make, all the details and the colorful palette, plus the sparkly metallic gel pens applied across different parts of the drawing.

Thank you for commissioning me! If interested, my commission sheet can be found here, or on the pinned post of my main blog!

I am trying to work on my Skyrim alchemy skills and I am not made for this. This is not my skill. I am aware that you can't get the Purity perk until you hit level 100 but fucking hell, all I seem to do is create the most absurdly, uselessly fucked up potions imaginable. I'm like "Let's make a potion to heal me!" and then what I get is half a gallon of dubious liquid that's like "Will heal 27 hit points, deplete your stamina, clear your mortal enemy's skin, and legally change your name to Uriel Septim the Ugly."

Weirdly these potions are nonetheless quite expensive

A screenshot of a potion description called Poison of Slow. It reads, target moves at 50% speed for 56 seconds. Invisibility for 34 seconds. Creatures and people up to level 11 flee from combat for 30 seconds. Restores 42 points of magicka. The Poison is worth 565 coinsALT

I am BAD at alchemy

omg now i wanna make an oc whos extremely good at making bad potions their whole bit is bad at alchemy someone convince me not to do this

saw a take about how conflating all incarcerated people with "rapists and murderers" isn't reflective of the reality of how many criminal convictions are of poor people stealing things they need to live, addicts without access to treatment, homeless people just existing, and so on, which is all true and important to point out, and i know the op already knows this so i'm not putting it in their notes, but: in addition, if you believe "legally convicted with murder" automatically equals "sadistic serial killer" you have far too much faith in the justice system and also need to stop watching cop shows probably
